The Sri Lanka Military Academy over time has become a fascinating destination for many local and foreign visitors as it adds stunning experiences to their complex lifestyle in terms of leisure, education, physical and moral growth with its vibrant landscape, history, fabulous role and tasks, culture, facilities and many more.
A delegation of twenty-three personnel from the Royal College -Colombo paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 31st March 2023 with the purpose of sharing the experience of strenuous military life and training for a short break.
On Friday (31 Mar), a friendly Cricket match between the Royal College Cricket team and the SLMA team was played at Polo Ground as a familiarization session. On 01st April, they were officially welcomed by the Chief Instructor of Military Training Wing along with other officers and senior Cadet Government appointment holders at the Main Gate of the Military Academy and they were initially educated on the historical and architectural significance of the War Memorial. Afterwards, teachers in charge with few senior students were called upon by the Commandant- SLMA for a friendly interaction at his Office. To make the youth aware of the prestigious Military Academy, the SLMA documentary was shown at the Sino – Lanka Friendship Auditorium. After that, they appeared for a group photograph at the Officer Cadets’ Mess and had a friendly interaction with trainee officer cadets to share youth’s ideas and sensations before they made a move to the SLMA Museum located at the Ella Camp premises. Their visit was finally culminated with a stroll to the SLMA Equestrian Section to see the stallions and mares.
Their stay at the Military Academy brought them an inspirational and novel experience as the delegation was able to widen their knowledge and exposure on military to a greater length.
