In military perspectives, the life of a military man is perfected by DRILL through which self-explanatory qualities of the term, D- for Discipline, R – for Regimentation, I for Integrity, two Ls for Loyalty and Leadership are instilled within the soldier. Hence, the prominence of the Drill Instructor Course conducted by the SLMA holds a great altitude in Army’s professional military training.
The 129th Drill Instructors Course comprising of 84 SNCOs representing all the regiments of the Sri Lanka Army began to sail its journey of a comprehensive and intensive drill instructor course for four months with the formal inauguration ceremony held at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of the Commandant as the Chief Guest. The course curriculum has been designed to produce knowledgeable, disciplined and skillful drill instructors to the Sri Lanka Army and it will be climaxed on 06th June 2023.
In the customary opening address delivered by Major General I A N B Perera RWP USP ndu psc, the Commandant at the ceremony, it was highlighted that the future of the Army relies on the effective role of the drill instructors who carry forth army’s core values and traditions. The student SNCOs were advised to follow the well- structured course curriculum with determination and optimism which will fulfill their dream of becoming professional drill instructors of the Army.
The event was attended by all Wing Heads, Senior Officers, Officers and other rank instructors of the Academy.
