‘Independence Day’ is one of the special national festivals of Sri Lanka which is held to celebrate the country’s independence from British rule in the year 1948.
On 04 February 2023, the Sri Lanka Military Academy also joined in cerebrating the 75th Independence Day by conducting a Parade in the foreground of the Headquarters Complex. The Parade consisting of officers, NCOs, officer cadets, civil employers of the Academy was graced by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier WSN Hemarathna RWP RSP psc by representing the head of the institute along with Wing Heads and other senior officers.
Following the Independence Day programme, the National Flag was hoisted and the national anthem was sung. Afterwards, a two-minute silence was observed in honour and respect of the fallen warriors. Then, all personnel gathered at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium to watch the National Independence Day Parade live telecast on TV.
