The Opening Address by the Commandant traditionally marks the commencement of any military training at SLMA- Diyatalawa. Intake 92B empowered by 134 young officer cadets, including 8 Foreign Officer Cadets, having completed diverse academic degree tenures at Sir John Kotelawala Defence University stepped to SLMA to cover their military package in the final year and participated in the Opening Address on 11 January 2023 at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the distinguished grace of the Commandant-SLMA Brigadier IANB Perera RWP RSP ndu psc along with the Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Senior Officers and Officers of the Academy.
At the address, the Commandant stressed on team spirit and attribution of military values such as equality, self-directed personality, decision-making, positive thinking and discipline in pursue of training objectives while adding his whole-hearted wishes to the Intake for a successful embarkment of training at SLMA. Following the Commandant’s Address, Wing Heads of the respective Wing conducted a few worthwhile awareness sessions to the officer cadets on core military disciplines, academic and military training curriculums to acclimatize them to the new military training environment.
