On 28th December 2022, Brigadier IANB Perera RWP RSP ndu psc of the Gajaba Regiment assumed duties as the 36th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy who was respectfully welcomed to the Academy with a traditional Guard Turnout. On the arrival, Brigadier Buddhika Perera paid his tributes to the fallen warriors by laying a flower wreath to the Monument. Then, a customary official parade commanded by the Head Of Training Team- MTW Lieutenant Colonel LP Athukorala RSP USP psc of the Special Forces with the participation of all ranks of the Academy commenced and the Chief Guest was honoured to inspect the parade and the other parade formalities.
As a part of the ceremony, the new Commandant officially took over his duties at auspicious time by giving the priority to Buddhist rituals, amidst pirith chanting. Afterwards, all ranks of the Faculty were gathered at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium for the Commandant’s address in which he underscored fulfillment of assigned tasks and responsibilities to the utmost satisfaction and expectation of the organization. In this effort, self-discipline, commitment and teamwork of all individuals were highly expected to meet the desired end result. In accordance with Sinhalese culture, a traditional tea organized by all ranks of the Academy was hosted to the newly appointed Commandant while adding well-wishes and blessings for a successful tenure at military Academy, Diyatalawa.
