The Opening Address by the Commandant is a custom practiced at the Sri Lanka Military Academy at the inception of any military course, which intends to motivate, guide and mentor the newly joined officer cadets along strenuous military training. On 02 February 2022, Intake SC 19 empowered with 66 energetic youngsters attended their Opening Address held at the Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium and the Commandant-SLMA Brig W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, graced the event as the Chief Guest along with other Wing Heads, Senior Officers and Officers of the Academy.
By welcoming the fresh members to the Sri Lanka Military Academy with warm-hearted congratulations, the Commandant extended his gratitude to their beloved parents upon their consent to let their children join a victorious army. During his address, he emphasized on team spirit which they are expected to maintain throughout their military career. Further, they were advised to work in positivism when following strenuous basic military training, duty-boundness towards citizenry and honour towards the Army. Finally, the Commandant wished the Intake strength and fortune for a successful and remarkable journey at military academy, Diyatalawa.
After the Commandant’s address, the Commanding Officer-Officer Cadet Wing, the Director Academics- Academic Wing and Head of Training Team – Military Training Wing conducted a few fruitful sessions on military disciplines that they have to adhere and academic/military training curriculums which they have to follow through in completing a remarkable short course.
