In the modern educational dimensions, research is seen as a dynamic tool for building knowledge and facilitating learning. A viva voce is the peak of any research where varied skills of the researcher such as subject knowledge, analytical skills, presentation and public speaking skills are tested through a systematic oral test in front of a panel of academic experts.
The Viva Voce of the Intake 89 reading for the BSc Degree in Military Studies was held on 19 and 20 November at the Academy Library premises with the participation of 71 Officer Cadets. Their research work in diverse fields of interest and oral skills were evaluated by three panels comprising of members from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA). The former consisted of Mr.WASMAI Senavirathne- Senior Lecturer Gr II, Ms. DGN Sanjeewani- Senior Lecturer Gr II and Ms SUW Jayaratne- Probationary Lecturer. Meanwhile, the Wing Heads, senior officers and academic lecturers of SLMA were also integrated into the panels to judge the academic proficiency of these young officer cadets who are at the verge of being commissioned next month, December.
The first-hand experience gained at the Viva Voce would make a firm foundation for these youth to enter the world of research with valuable inputs and tools.
