In general, ‘Accounts’ play a vital role in any organization with regard to income and expenditure. As such, the knowledge on accounts is essential for military personnel in handling financial matters with transparency and accuracy. Meanwhile, ‘Tamil’, one of the official languages in Sri Lanka, holds a prominent position in social communication in a multi-ethnic community, and Tamil literacy of military personnel has an added advantage in performing their duties, especially in Northern and Eastern Provinces of the country.
Introduction of the Advanced Regimental Accounts Course and the Basic Tamil Course for Officers and Other Ranks of the Military Academy is an effort pioneered by the Commandant and Deputy Commandant. .
The Advanced Regimental Accounts Course was conducted by the Accountant, Major CR Godage SLAGSC and Logistics Officer III, Captain WMJI Weerakoon SLNG and the Basic Tamil Language Course was conducted by the Tamil lecturers, Maj K P Kumar SLAGSC and Mr A S Azeem. .
The certificate awarding ceremony of the above courses was held at the Colonel Fazly Laphir Auditorium with the participation of the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier PAM Peiris RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest along with senior officers and officers, adhering to the specified precautions for Covid-19 pandemic. .
