PIPPING CEREMONY

The traditional Pipping Ceremony which symbolizes the removal of cadet insignia and wearing of officer insignia was ceremonially conducted at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium with the participation of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc as the Chief Guest together with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and Principal Staff Officers. The ceremony was also graced by Defence Attaches and Advisors, Senior Officers of the Army and Academy staff.

The pinning on “Pips” is usually done by parents of passing out officer cadets but due to the COVID 19 pandemic situation, this special arrangement was adopted by the SLMA as a preventive measure.
