The Sri Lanka Military Academy organized a sports festival with the participation of officers, other rank instructors, officer cadets and civilian staff on account of the 28th Academy Day celebrations for the first time in the history of the institute under the patronage of the Commandant, Brigadier A K G K U Gnanaratne ndc psc.
The certificate awarding ceremony of the sports competitions was held on 21st August 2020 and the commandant graced the occasion as the chief guest where certificates and trophies were awarded to the winners of football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, badminton and quiz competition. The cadet band, “The Leads” played songs and short dramas were performed by both officer cadets and student Drill Instructors adding glamour to the evening. The commandant, in his speech, emphasized that the series of special events were conducted to develop the physical and mental health, general knowledge and to strengthen comradeship among all officers, officer cadets, other ranks and civilian staff of the institute.
