A delegation of eight high-ranking officers from Zambia including the Commander of the Zambian Army – Lieutenant General W M Sikazwe psc DIP (DSS) MA (DSS) called on the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa on 22nd February 2020.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Commandant, Brigadier A K G K U Gnanaratne psc along with the Deputy Commandant and all Wing Heads. The visit was marked by paying floral tribute to the “Monument of Peace” located at the Academy’s main entrance.
The Commandant delivered the welcome address and Colonel Nilantha Premaratne conducted a comprehensive presentation on the Military Academy at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. They were hosted for tea and refreshments at the Cadets’ Mess where the Zambian Army Commander and his officers could interact with the two Zambian cadets who are under training at SLMA. Afterwards, the visiting Army Commander signed the visitors’ book and exchanged mementos, strengthening mutual bond and relationship between the two countries. The distinguished delegation was hosted for dinner at the Officers’ Mess prior to their departure.
