Fifteen officers of Intake 13 trained at the then ATC visited the SLMA with their charming ladies on 8th & 9th February 2020 in marking their 40th Intake anniversary.
The visiting retired senior officers were warmly welcomed by the new Commandant, Brigadier A K G K U Gnanaratne psc along with all Wing Heads upon their arrival. The visit began by offering floral tribute to the “Monument of Peace” which is a symbolic structure dedicated for fallen war heroes located at the main entrance. Next, an ever-memorable drill session was performed by the retired senior officers, which renewed their good olden day cadet-hood and the experience in overall attire and drilling.
They were officially welcomed to Home by the Commandant while the Commanding Officer of the OCW, Colonel Nilantha Premaratne conducted the Academy presentation at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. Then, they made a visit to the fully-fledged library complex and Gymnasium to rekindle their nostalgic memories in past. The delegation was hosted with lunch arranged at the Officer Cadets Mess with the present day training officer cadets. After the Lunch break, the delegation never forgot to make special notes on their memorable visit in the Visitors’ Book at the Officer Cadets’ Mess.
In the evening, the dinner for the senior hands were organized at the Officers’ Mess and a special memento in memory of their visit was presented to the Commandant in appreciation. The event was also attended by the Commander Security Force Headquarters (Cen), Wing Heads and officers. On 09th February 2020, a small get together for these officers was arranged at ‘Wadula’ followed by lunch. The 40th anniversary celebration of the Intake 13 at their ‘Alma Mater’ added a lasting and cherishing experience to their life.
