A high profile delegation comprising of 24 officers including Directors General of NCC and 68 school cadets from five SAARC countries; India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Maldives arrived at SLMA on 23rd October 2019 on their way to the National Cadet Corps Training Centre, Rantambe to witness the Hermann Loos Challenge Trophy 2019.
After a warm welcome, they listened to a briefing on the concept of the Monument of Peace erected in memory of fallen officers and a presentation on SLMA, its history and cadet life at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium. The senior officers of the delegation together with their spouses called on the Commandant, Brigadier SK Eshwaran in his office. In the evening, the delegation experienced an exciting cultural show performed by the Army Cultural Troup and harmonious multi-lingual singing by local and foreign cadets.
The Deputy Commandant Brigadier K H K Kottawatta along with senior officers and cadets of SLMA were present at the occasion in building stronger relationships among the participants by way of sharing and understanding their cultures, values interests and traditions. The exchange of plaques marked the conclusion of yet another memorable visit to the Academy by a delegation from SAARC countries.
