A SESSION ON ‘MISSION COMMAND’

On 12^th August 2019, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake conducted a timely important speech on the military philosophy of ‘MISSION COMMAND’ for the Officer Cadets and the officer instructors of the Military Academy. During his lecture, he emphasized the concept of mission command to achieve relative advantages and the key principles such as exploration of initiative, building of cohesiveness, mutual trust, mission command orders, empowerment of subordinates to meet diversified multi-faceted combat threats and environments today and tomorrow. More importantly, the Commander emphasized on the dynamic role of a junior leader in complex fast-moving military domain by reinforcing the concept of Mission Command.

The commandant SLMA, Brigadier Shantha Eshwaran initially introduced the Guest Speaker to the audience. At the end of the session, there was an exchange of mementos among both parties and the event was concluded with a special banquet arranged at the Officer Cadet Mess.
