Nine officers of Intake 2 who were trained at the then ATC (current SLMA) visited Diyatalawa on 4th May 2019 in celebrating their 50th anniversary. Six of their wives also accompanied them.
Upon arrival they paid floral tribute to the “Monument of Peace” erected in the Academy premises. The Commandant, Brigadier Shantha Eshwaran delivered the welcome address and the Chief Instructor, Colonel Nilantha Premaratne conducted a comprehensive presentation on the Military Academy at the Fazli Laphir Auditorium. Major General (Retd) L C R Goonewardene addressed the audience on his intake’s behalf. The event was also attended by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier K H K Kottawattha, Wing Heads, a cross section of officers and officer cadets.
The visiting Intake 2 officers presented a special memento to the Sri Lanka Military Academy and the Academy too presented them with mementoes and gifts.
The delegation visited the Library, Stable, Museum and also the billets they used to occupy 50 years ago in Ella Camp in rekindling their nostalgic memories of their cadet days at Diyatalawa.
