119th DRILL INSTRUCTOR COURSE ENDS

The passing out parade of Drill Instructor Course no 119 was held on 27^th April 2019 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. Brigadier S K Eshwaran USP psc Hdmc, the Commandant of the institute graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with all Wing Heads and a cross section of officers and other ranks from all Wings. 81 SNCOs and NCOs representing 20 regiments of the Army including four from the Sri Lanka Police and one from the Civil Security Department received Drill Instructor badges from the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest presented the “Silver Pace Stick” to Sgt Sampath M A H 4 (V) ESR who became the First in Order of Merit and special plaques were awarded to Sgt Pushpakumara P D S 4 (V) ESR and Sgt Herath H M T I B 9 SLSC for scoring the highest aggregate in all theoretical subjects of the course. Newly passed out Drill Instructors performed a colourful drill display together with a band display in marking their passing out.

On the 27^th evening, the course-end Dinner Night was held at the Warrant Officers and Sergeants’ Mess with the participation of the Chief Guest, a section of the SLMA staff and newly passed out drill instructors.
