Twenty officer cadets of DE I/2018, whose military training commenced on 15th February 2018, received their certificates after successful completion of a four-month basic training. The ceremony was graced by the Commandant, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne as the Chief Guest. The Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Company Commanders and Course Officers also attended the event which was held at the Col F Laphir Auditorium on 26th June 2018. The Commandant addressing the officer cadets stated the importance of undergoing basic military training diligently in order to function effectively as officers while maintaining professionalism in their respective fields.
These cadets followed a compact military course which comprised of all essentials to function in unit lines such as Service Writing, Regimental Accounts, Military Law, Drill, Weapons Training, Leadership and Admin in the Field.
Three of them will be posted to the Sri Lanka Engineers, one to the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, five to the Corps of Engineer Services, two to the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and nine to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps. Their professions are engineering, quantity surveying, information technology, medical, dental and performing arts respectively.
Lady Officer Cadet W M G M Thilakarathne received a special prize for her outstanding performance.
