DE II/2017 COMPLETES MILITARY TRAINING

Sixteen officer cadets of DE II/2017, whose military training commenced on 22nd September 2017, left the Academy on 29th January 2018 after successful completion of a four-month basic training. The certificates awarding ceremony was graced by the Commandant, Brigadier H H A S P K Senaratne as the Chief Guest. The Deputy Commandant, wing heads, company commanders and course officers also attended the event which was held at the Col F Laphir Auditorium on 29th January 2018. The Commandant addressing the officer cadets stated the importance of undergoing basic military training diligently in order to function effectively as officers while maintaining professionalism in their respective fields.

These cadets followed a compact military course which comprised of all essentials to function in unit lines such as service writing, regimental accounts, military law, drill, weapons training, leadership and admin in the field.

Six of them will be posted to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, five to Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, four to Sri Lanka Signal Corps and one to Corps of Engineer Services. Their professions are medical, accounting, air ticketing, engineering and information technology.

Officer Cadet WGL Jayaratne who became the batch top delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the ceremony.
