The Inter-Company Sports Meet, conducted annually to foster sportsmanship, leadership, and organizational skills, was held on the 30th and 31st of August 2024 at the Polo Ground. The Inauguration Ceremony took place on the 30th of August, with the Commandant, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc, attending as the Chief Guest. Following the Opening declaration, a series of heated and competitive events unfolded including the Invited Schools- Girls’ and Boys’ Relays, Inter Wing Relay and Civil Servants’ Race, culminating in the Closing Ceremony on the 31st of August.

‘Parents' Day’ is a significant event in the annual SLMA calendar, designed to exhibit the diverse talents and skills of trainee Officer Cadets at the SLMA. The abilities, skills and talents developed through their training at Diyatalawa are showcased to their parents and beloved ones on this day. On 24 Aug 2024, the Parents' Day of the officer cadet Intake 93 was held at the SLMA, with the attendance of their parents and relatives. This splendid event was graced by the Commandant- SLMA, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc, as the Chief Guest along with the Overlooking Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, and other Officers of the Military Academy.

With the purpose of upholding traditions and enhancing unity, discipline, obedience, and command among Officer Cadets, the Inter-Company Drill Competition of the Sri Lanka Military Academy was held on 10 August 2024. The four companies were commanded by the Company Under Officers. By the end of the competition, Gannoruwa Company was adjudged the Champion Company of the Inter-Company Drill Competition 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel EAA Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe SLACAL is a senior officer with over thirty- two years of remarkable service in the Sri Lanka Army, whose military philosophy has been highly shaped by operational area experiences in the escalation of war during the Humanitarian Operation. More interestingly, he is also known as a writer, a poet, a composer, a painter as well as the Chief Editor of Ranaviruwa Magazine. He passionately promotes war literature related to the three-decade long conflict in Sri Lanka by exploring battle experiences of the Sri Lankan Soldier through numerous field research.

On 10 August 2024, Mr. Kalana Chandimal Wakista, a well-known personality and trainer in the field of bookbinding, preservation, and conservation, made a generous contribution to the Major Indika Walisundara Memorial Library by donating forty-six publications on a wide range of subjects, including Buddhism, English Language Learning, Social Sciences, Biographies, Mass Media, and Fiction. This valuable collection will enrich the library's resources and broaden the horizons of Officer Cadets, Officer Instructors, and all other library users.

On 1 Aug 2024, Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General SAND Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc paid his official visit to the SLMA in order to observe the training process at the SLMA and to discuss varied training concerns. On his arrival, the DGGS was extended with a warm welcome by the Commandant Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc together with the Deputy Commandant and all other Wing Heads of the Military Academy at the main entrance.
