    Donation, a selfless act, teaches the importance of generosity. People living in poverty and desperate living conditions need a helping hand for growth. Mrs Nethmini Gunasekara and Mr. Lahiru Dissanyaka, two Sri Lankans domiciled in Australia patronaged to construct a new house for Mr. S Sangarguru’s family living at Heennarangolla, Boralanda under the supervision and labour force of the Military Academy. Necessary financial and other resources for this charity work were coordinated and pioneered by Brigadier Anil Peiris RSP USP psc during his tenure at the Military Academy as the Deputy Commandant.

  • OCDC SAILED ON AN EXPEDITION TO SLMA

On 20 November 2021, a delegation of 97 Student Officers following the Senior Command Course-3 (JCC) and Junior Staff Course-22 (JSC) along with 21 Instructional/Directing Staff from the Officer Career Development Center (OCDC), Buttala visited the Sri Lanka Military Academy. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier W S N Hemarathna RWP RSP psc along with the Academy staff at the main entrance.

The Sri Lanka Military Academy conducts the Exercise Wanabambara in two phases for the final year trainees of all basic training courses (short and long courses) once their military curriculum reaches the edge.

  • BRIGADIER WSN HEMARATHNA ASSUMES DUTIES AS DEPUTY COMMANDANT

    Brigadier WSN Hemarathna RWP RSP psc assumed duties as the 12th Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on 08 November 2021 in a simple ceremony amid chanting of pirith. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp and placing of his signature on the first official document at the auspicious time symbolized the assuming of office.

    The first day of the basic military training is a very special occasion of an Officer Cadet’s life. Intake KDU 39 consisting of 102 energetic youth began their intensive military training on 1 November 2021 and their Opening Address was held at Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium.
