  • 150 TECHNICALLY ADVANCED TOM JUAN CHARLOS (TJC) MANGO PLANTS PLANTED

    Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Maj General Sathyappriya Liyange WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc participated the ceremonial commencement of mango tree planting while he visits the Armoured Corps Training Centre on 18 May 2020. According to the Green Concept of "Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak" 150 technically advanced TJC mango plants were planted on that occasion to bring the message of responsibility of all citizens in the journey towards a prosperous self-sustained land. Armoured Corps Training Centre Anuradhapura initiated this project.

  • CHIEF OF STAFF SRI LANKA ARMY AND THE COLONEL COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS VISITS THE “ABIMANSALA 1”

    Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General Sathyapriya Liyange WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc visited the Anuradhapura Abimansala 1 on 18 May 2020. This wellness resort is the permanent home for disabled war heroes and Colonel Commandant took his time to look after the well- being of disabled war heroes during the visit.

  • COLONEL COMMANDANT VISITS THE ARMOURED CORPS TRAINING CENTRE, 3 ARMOURED REGIMENT & 7 (VOLUNTEER) REGIMENT

    Chief of Staff – Sri Lanka Army, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Maj Gen Sathyapriya Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc visited the Armoured Corps Training Centre, 3 Armoured Regiment and 7 (Volunteer) Regiment on 18 May 2020. During his visit he payed his tribute to the late Lt Gen Denzil Kobbakaduwa statue at Anuradhapura hospital circle, Fallen War Heroes Monument at Anuradhapura Salgadu ground and Armoured War Heroes’ Monument at Kalattewa.

  • 67TH REGIMENTAL COUNCIL MEETING OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps held 67th Regimental Council meeting at the Rock House camp on 15 May 2020. The meeting was presided by Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc, The Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • COLONEL COMMANDANT’S VISIT TO 5 SLAC

    The Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc took his time off to visit the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 13 May 2020. To mark his visit, he was honored with a Guard turnout and followed by a troop address, tree planting and all ranks tea were arranged by the Commanding Officer, all Officers and other rankers of the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment while adhering to all stipulated Covid-19 safety regulations.

  • DISTRIBUTION OF DRY RATION PACKS FOR CIVIL STAFF OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Distribution of gifts for civilian staff has been a longstanding practice of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps during Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival. This year SLAC organised a programme to assist civil staff with dry ration packs to ease off the burden of Corona outbreak.

  • HANDING OVER THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED DECONTAMINATION CHAMBER BY HOME OF ARMOUR

    On the direction of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and close supervision of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, the troops of Armoured Brigade have taken the task to manufacture the Automatic Operating Decontamination Chamber and 44 nos of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits officially handed over to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital at Colombo South on today morning (7th April). The immense humanitarian assistance was provided in response to a request of Dr. Asela Gunawardana, Director - Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for the self preservation and individual sanitization of hospital staff against affecting the COVID - 19 virus. This is a first ever decontamination chamber that had been produced by the Sri Lanka Army with fully technical support and advice of Lieutenant SR Yapa SLAC, Captain Thilina Gunasena SLEME and technical team of the Armoured Brigade.

  • RUSSIAN LAND FORCES COMMANDER VISITS “HOME OF ARMOUR”

    General of the Army Oleg Salyukov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces visited Regimental Headquarter Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 05 February 2020. On his arrival Commander Armoured Brigade, Centre Commandant and Commanding Officer 1 SLAC welcomed him and presented a colour rich guard turnout followed by a glamorous guard of honour. Chief of staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc welcomed the delegation at the Regimental Headquarters. Formal discussion was held at conference hall to give a glimpse insight on Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • ANOTHER TWO STARS FOR ARMOURED CORPS

    Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc was promoted to rank of Major General with effect from 27 November 2019. He was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Commander Armoured Brigade on behalf of all Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps, for a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 19 December 2019. In keeping with military traditions, Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc accepted the regimental salute at the ceremonial Guard of Honour accorded inclusive of Regimental Colours at the Home of Armour camp premises.

  • CAVALRY OFFICERS’ GET–TOGETHER 2019

    Annual Officers’ Get-Together of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps for year 2019 was held at Cavalry Mess on 19 December 2019. Colonel Commandant of the Corps Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of this glamorous event. Both retired and senior Officers in service participated for this gathering making it more colorful and memorable. Newly Married Couples were welcomed by young officers and token of appreciation was given by the Colonel Commandant to recently retired officer in recognition of their contribution to the nation, Army and the Corps. The event was full of exiting events where Officers interacted each other while cherishing their memories.
