69th Regimental Council meeting of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps was held at Rock House camp on 5th November 2020. Meeting was presided by Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc with video conferencing technology in comply with the direction of Army Headquarters to prevent COVID 19 pandemic. Discussion was mainly focused on matters pertaining to career progression, training and administrative aspects.

The Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General A L P S Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc graced the unveiling of T-55 tank module (MBT of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps) at the main entrance of Home of Armour on 5 November 2020. Aim of the effort was to furtherance the Armour identity and the event was organised in comply with the COVID 19 safety regulations.

A workshop on music was conducted for the staff of beat groups and calypso bands of SLAC units on 26 September 2020 at the Facility Complex in Rock House Camp. The three-hours workshop was conducted by renown musical director Mr Navaratha Gamge, who is awarded with Sri Lankan honors “KALASURI" in 2017 for special contribution to the development of Sri Lankan culture, arts, cinema, drama, music, etc. and also from Japan the “BUNKAPRIZE" for special achievement as a musician.

Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organised an Inter Unit Debate Competition which was conducted from 19 August 2020 to 2 September 2020 at ACTC and the finals at the Auditorium in Rock House Camp. The intended aim of this effort is to enhance the Officers’ capacity in analysing in-depth issues, weigh cons and pros, arriving at sound courses of action, team building, thinking on feet and oral presentation skills etc.

Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organized a Diners’ Club at the Cavalry Officers’ Mess in the evening hours on 11 September 2020 under the auspices of Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, with a view to widen the horizons of Cavalry Officers.

A new pavilion was declared open today at the Rock House Camp dedicated to late Lieutenant General D L Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc, the most distinguished military Officer in Sri Lanka Armoured Corps who led many battles and was famously known as the "People’s General" attributed to his unique character.

The "Father of the 5th Reconnaissance Regiment" of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and the 6th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and the former Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, Maj Gen N A Ranasinghe (Rtd) RSP VSV USP ndc psc lsc, was the Chief Guest for unveiling of his portrait at Officers’ Mess of the 5th Reconnaissance Regiment on the invitation of Lt Col D K S M Kariyawasam USP, the Commanding Officer of the 5th Reconnaissance Regiment. Maj Gen N A Ranasinghe (Rtd) RSP VSV USP ndc psc Isc, having unveiled the portrait, was delighted to witness the improvement achieved by the Regiment since inception.

The Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and General Officer Commanding 12 Division, Major General ALPS Tillekerathne RWP RSP USP psc visited the 7 (V) Regiment of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 14 August 2020. He was honoured with a Guard Turnout followed by tree planting, Officers’ group photograph, CO’s briefing, Troop Address, and concluded with lunch at the Officers Mess. The Commanding Officer and all Officers and ORs of the 7(V) Regiment adhered to all stipulated Covid – 19 safety regulations throughout the programme.

Lieutenant General D L Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc, one of the most admired and finest war heroes in the contemporary history in Sri Lanka made the supreme sacrifice in protecting the mother Lanka on 8th August 1992 at Araly point in Jaffna.
