  • ANOTHER TWO STARS FOR ARMOURED CORPS

    Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc was promoted to rank of Major General with effect from 27 November 2019. He was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Commander Armoured Brigade on behalf of all Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps, for a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on 19 December 2019. In keeping with military traditions, Major General A L P S Tillekerathna RWP RSP USP psc accepted the regimental salute at the ceremonial Guard of Honour accorded inclusive of Regimental Colours at the Home of Armour camp premises.

  • SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS CELEBRATED 64TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CORPS AT HOME OF ARMOUR

    The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) celebrated its 64th Anniversary on 15th December 2019 at the Rock House Camp, Colombo 15. The celebrations began on 29 November 2019 with the commemoration of fallen war heroes of the Corps who paid the supreme sacrifice to protect our motherland. The occasion was marked by wreath laying on 29 November 2019 at the Armour War Heroes Memorial Park, Anuradhapura by Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps with the attendance of serving officers and families of fallen war heroes. Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage accepted the salute as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on the parade accorded by the troops of cavalry family before a highly attended gathering at the parade ground at Home of Armour. Corps Day activities included a colourful parade, awards presentation to excelled units and many exciting and joyful events. A centrepiece of the Day was the awarding ceremony where the SLAC Regiments were rewarded for their performances during the year. 4 Armoured Regiment won the “Silver Scout” for the Best Sports Regiment and General Deshamanya Sepal aAttygalle Memorial Trophy awarded for the Best All Round Regiment for the year 2019. 5th Reconnaissance Regiment won the awarded for the Best Regiment in training. The Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors of respective regiments accepted their awards from the Colonel Commandant amidst applaud from everyone present.

  • ARMOURED CORPS 64TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN!

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps celebrated its 64th Anniversary on 15th Dec 2019. Prior to this event, multi religious ceremonies were held in order to invoke blessings on the Corps. Muslim religious ceremonies were held on 4th Dec 2019 AM hours at Jumma Mosque Mutwal and Christian Mass was held at St. Andrew's Church Modara on PM hours on the same day. Hindu religious ceremonies were held at Sri Venkateshwar Kovil Modara on 5th Dec 2019.Religious activities were culminated with the Pirith Chanting held on 09th December 2019 followed by an alms giving on 10th December 2019 at Rock House.

  • RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES FOR 64TH ANNIVERSARY

  • COMMEMORATION CEREMONY OF FALLEN ARMOUR WAR HEROES

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organized a commemoration ceremony on 29 November 2019 to pay tribute to the fallen Armour war heroes. The commemoration ceremony was held at Armour War Heroes Monument located at the Armoured Corps Training Centre, Kalattewa, Anuradhapura. It is a noble and remarkable event organized by the Regiment in each year as a tradition prior to the Corps Day with participation of family members of fallen war heroes of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • ARMOUR LADIES CLUB DONATED A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE

    Armour Ladies Club donated a newly built house to Trooper Mahindasinghe W K (3 SLAC) spending Rs 1,000,000.00 for construction works. The house warming ceremony was held on the auspicious time fallen on 14th October 2019 at their new residence, Kadanhena, Horana.

  • NEW COMMANDING OFFICER OF 1ST RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT, SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS ASSUMES OFFICE

    The newly appointed Commanding officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment – Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Lt Col S J Samarasinghe psc assumed duties as the 36 Commanding Officer at the Regimental Headquarters, Rock House Camp, Mutwal on 12 September 2019.

  • FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organized a felicitation ceremony for the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Commander - Overall Operation Command and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc on 11 September 2019 at the Regimental Centre - Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on his first visit to the Regiment as the Chief of Staff. On his arrival he was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant – SLAC, Commander – Armoured Brigade and was accorded with a formal guard turnout and guard of honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • MAJOR GENERAL SATHYAPPRIYA LIYANAGE ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF SRI LANKA ARMY

    The Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps & Overall Operations Commander (Western Province/ Puttlam District) Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc assumed office as the new Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army on Tuesday (27) during a brief ceremony at the Army Headquartes.

  • RETIREMENT OF TWO STAR GENERALS OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Maj Gen I P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc & Maj Gen D T Gamage psc were retired from active service on 23 April 2019 and 22 April 2019 subsequently after completing 55 years of age and farewell parade was held on 26 April 2019 in Rock House camp.
