THE COLONEL COMMANDANT VISITS 5 RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT

The 13th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and Commandant of the Officer Career Development Centre, Major General D B S N Bothota RWP RSP USP psc conducted his first official visit to the Ironside camp of 5 Reconnaissance Regiment on 29 March 2021. At his arrival, a warm reception was made by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel D K S M Kariyawasam USP and he was honoured with ceremonial Guard Turnout at the main entrance.

The newly sited Technical Section Complex was declared open by the Colonel Commandant during the visit. After the Commanding Officer’s briefing, Colonel Commandant addressed All Ranks in which he emphasized the importance of discipline and knowledge base training in order to face the future challenges while maintaining unique identity of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps standards and continuing the rich tradition of the Regiment. Further, he extended his gratefulness to the former and present Officers and soldiers who strived to elevate the camp in to the present-day standard while sharing his preceding experience as the Second Adjutant and as an Officer Commanding of A Squadron of 5 SLAC.

The Colonel Commandant planted a sapling to mark his first official visit and afterwards had an interaction with troops during All Rank Tea. Then he visited the camp premises of 5 Reconnaissance Regiment. At the end of the day’s event the Colonel Commandant was hosted with a lunch at the Officers’ mess. Finally he added his remarks in to the unit Visitors’ Book terminating the proceedings of another remarkable event of Ironside calender.
