  • NEW COMMANDING OFFICER OF 1ST RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT, SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS ASSUMES OFFICE

    The newly appointed Commanding officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment – Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Lt Col S J Samarasinghe psc assumed duties as the 36 Commanding Officer at the Regimental Headquarters, Rock House Camp, Mutwal on 12 September 2019.

  • FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organized a felicitation ceremony for the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Commander - Overall Operation Command and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc on 11 September 2019 at the Regimental Centre - Sri Lanka Armoured Corps on his first visit to the Regiment as the Chief of Staff. On his arrival he was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant – SLAC, Commander – Armoured Brigade and was accorded with a formal guard turnout and guard of honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • MAJOR GENERAL SATHYAPPRIYA LIYANAGE ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF SRI LANKA ARMY

    The Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps & Overall Operations Commander (Western Province/ Puttlam District) Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc assumed office as the new Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army on Tuesday (27) during a brief ceremony at the Army Headquartes.

  • RETIREMENT OF TWO STAR GENERALS OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Maj Gen I P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc & Maj Gen D T Gamage psc were retired from active service on 23 April 2019 and 22 April 2019 subsequently after completing 55 years of age and farewell parade was held on 26 April 2019 in Rock House camp.

  • SLAC AGAIN CLINCHED THE ARMY INTER REGIMENT BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Basketball team was again crowned as Champions in Inter Regiment Basketball Championship 2018 held at the Army Sport Complex, Panagoda on 15th March 2019. SLAC team beat the Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps Basketball team. Lance Corporal E.P.D Soyza was awarded as the Best Player.

  • EXCURSION TO DIYATALAWA

    The officers of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps including Major General SDT Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc; the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps went on an excursion to Thotupola Kanda and Horton Plains in the Central Province. Officers had a very rare experience of moving away from the official routine works while having a delighted train journey from Colombo Fort to Diyatalawa cherishing the memories of days gone by.

  • 63RD ANNIVERSARY PARADE

    The ceremonial parade accorded to the Colonel Commandant commemorating the 63rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps was held at the Home of Armour Parade Grounds on 15 December 2018. The well attended ceremony was conducted under the patronage of the Commander of the Security Forces (West) and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Maj Gen S D T Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc. The proceedings of the day commenced at 0900 hrs with the arrival of Maj Gen and Mrs Liyanage. On his arrival, the Colonel Commandant inspected the Camp Quarter Guard mounted by the troops of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps followed by the unveiling of plaque “Kadavuru Purawatha” which depicts the historical significance of the Rock House Camp.

  • 63rd ANNIVARSARY RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES

    Prior to its 63rd Anniversary which falls on 15 December 2018, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps organized multi-religious ceremonies in order to invoke blessings on the Corps. The religious activities commenced with the Hindu religious ceremony held at Sri Venkateshwarar Kovil at Modara on 03 December 2018. Afterwards, an Islamic religious ceremony and a Christian Mass were held at Al-Jumma Mosque, Mutwal and St. Andrew's Church, Modara respectively on 04 December 2018. The culmination of religious activities was marked by the overnight pirith chanting held on 06 December followed by alms giving (Heel Dhanaya) on 07 December at Home of Armour, Rock House Camp.
