  • ARMOUR SYMPOSIUM – 2022

    "Armour Symposium -2022", the first ever of its kind organized by a Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army was successfully held on 21 and 22 February 2022 at the Cavalry Mess, Rock House Camp, under the theme of "Excellence through Knowledge". This event was a brainchild of Major General DBSN Bothota RWP RSP USP psc, the Colonel Commandant of SLAC.

  • 66TH RAISING DAY CELEBRATED BY SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    Sri Lanka Armoured Corps with remarkable and illustrious service to the nation with great potential celebrated its 66 raising day on 15 December with limited events as per the COID 19 health safety regulations. 66th year raising celebrations commenced with the War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony on 11 December 2021 followed by Bodhi Pooja blessing ceremony on 13 December 2021. War Heroes Commemoration began with an impressive parade followed by a wreath-laying ceremony organized at the War Heroes Memorial at ACTC.

  • ARMOURED TROOPS PARTICIPATED FOR THE EXERCISE CORMORANT STRIKE

    The prominent Field Training Exercise (FTX) that participates multi-national military members, Exercise Cormorant Strike was conducted with the scope of developing professional abilities and competency of junior leaders in war fighting, upon conceptual direction of Commander of the Army. Final demonstration of the exercise was held at Kuchchaveli (Nilaveli) beach on 29 September 2021 seeing the participation of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Senior Officers from tri services and higher delegations of friendly foreign countries.

    Brigadier P A M Peiris RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 27th Commander of the Armoured Brigade on 19 July 2021 at the Brigade Headquarters in Rock House Camp.

  • INTER REGIMENT BADMINTON TOURNAMENT - 2021

    Finals in the Inter Regiment Badminton Tournament - 2021 got underway on 15 July 2021 at the Rock House Camp, graced by the Brig M A Izadeen RSP, the Commandant and Chief Executive Officer of Ranaviru Apparel, Yakkala as the Chief Guest. This tournament was organised by the 1 Reconnaissance Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

  • FAREWELL TO A MIGHTY CAVALRYMAN: GENERAL CYRIL RANATUNGA

    General S C Rantunga (Rtd) VSV rcds psc one of the distinguished general in the Sri Lanka Army history, passed away on 16 June 2021. He was 91 years old at the time of his demise.

  • NEW HOME FOR STANDARDS - 1st RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS

    In recognition of the invaluable service rendered to the nation in protecting sovereignty and the territorial integrity through the years from its inception in 1955, the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment - Sri Lanka Armoured Corps was awarded the Presidents’ Standards and the Regimental Standards on 14 December 1998 by Hon. Minister for Power and Energy and Deputy Minister for Defence General A V Rathwatte who represented Her Excellency the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Upon reception of the Standards, they were placed at a dedicated place in the Regiment.

    The Cavalry Family celebrated the Sinhala/Tamil New Year festival at Rock House Camp on Wednesday 7 April 2021. Following the necessary strict health guidelines, the event took place in a magnificent manner having limited number of traditional yet fun and culturally rich rituals and games.
