THE ANNUAL ‘PIRITH’ CEREMONY WAS HELD ON 2ND DECEMBER 2022, TO INVOKE BLESSINGS TO All SERVING AND FALLEN HEROES OF THE ARMOURED CORPS

An all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting, organised by the Regimental Centre SLAC on the celebration of forthcoming 67th Corps Day Anniversary on 15 December 2022, got underway on Friday, 02 December 2022 evening at the Rock House Camp premises. Major General D B S N Bothota RWP RSP USP psc, Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant SLAC, together with Mrs. Harshini Bothota, the President, Armour Ladies Club, Brigadier W P Kariyawasam, Commander Armoured Brigade, Brigadier P N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Centre Commandant SLAC, Senior Officers, spouses, Other Ranks, Retired Officers and family members of fallen War Heroes attended the event.

The Venerable Maha Sangha were accompanied in a colourful procession of fireworks, whip crackers, dancers and the cultural troupe to the main preaching hall. The chanting commenced just after the offering of the tray of betel by the Commander Armoured Brigade. On behalf of the Maha Sangha Nayaka Thero delivered a sermon and invoked blessings to the organisation, injured War Heroes, fallen War Heroes and their family members.

With the Offering of the ‘Heel Daana’ and 'Sangeeka Daana' on the following day morning to 15 monks at the same venue brought the Buddhist religious ceremonies to an end.
