Under the guidance and instruction of Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Jaffna troops are set to embark upon another project of national and timely importance on Friday (01) in order to supplement and promote the Army Food Security Program by cultivating varieties of plants and seeds in the Jaffna peninsula.
Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka H.E. Mr, Mizukoshi Hideaki paid a courtesy visit to the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna on 29th June 2022. H.E. the Ambassador and the visiting delegation were warmly welcomed by the Jaffna Commander’s representative, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG at the headquarters premises of Security Forces Jaffna.
The 513 Infantry Brigade initiated another humanitarian intervention by donating sport items and financial support to an economically deprived needy student who has selected to the Sri Lanka Under 19 Women National Team from Victoria College, Chullipuram in 513 Infantry Brigade AOR on 27 June 2022. The Contribution extend by Mr. Manoharan Mano and the President of TCT Foundation Mr. Wamadevan Tyagirathan as per the the CIMIC plan of 51 Infantry Division. The event was organized by Comd 513 Inf Bde and the all ranks of 513 Inf Bde with the blessing of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division Major General KAA Udaya Kumara RSP USP USAWC psc.
To maintain goodwill among Army and Tamil Community, with the blessings of General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu the Commander 521 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier M M Salwathura RWP RSP USP, Staff of 521 Infantry Brigade took steps to organize an event to distribute essentials and infant needs worth of Rs 5000/= among fifty pregnant women in 521 Bde AOR with the assistance of Commanding Officer and troops of 11th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 25 June 2022.
After assuming the duties as the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu made his first formal visit to Headquarters 523 Infantry Bde at Chavakachchri, Under Command Battalions of 7th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment at Chavakachchri and 12th Gamunu Watch at Kovilakandy on 23 June 2022.
The General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Commander 523 Infantry Brigade Colonel K A S K Siriwardhana RWP RSP USP and respective Commanding Officers. During the visit, General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division addressed approximately 300 troops who belong to 523 Bde.
After assuming the duties as the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu made his first formal visit to Headquarters 522 Infantry Bde at Vidaththatpalai and Under Command Battalions of 7th Gajaba Regiment at Vidaththatpalai and 15th Gajaba Regiment at Kodikamam on 22 June 2022.
The General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Commander 522 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier S A Hettige RSP psc and respective Commanding Officers. During the visit GOC addressed Officers and Other Ranks who are serving under 522 Brigade.
A provision of Bicycles for schoolings and Dry Ration Packs for underprivileged families in Jaffna were organized by the General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, under the guidance and direction of Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu on 26th June 2022.
The ceremony of donating twenty two push bicycles worth of Rs 50000/= among School Children and Dry Ration packs worth of Rs 5000/= among fifty needy families in 523 Bde AOR were held at the Cultural Centre, Chavakachcheri and the Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with donor Mr. Rajikaran Sanmugarathnam and General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu .
Under the guidance and instruction of the Commander Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna , Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, an impressive and timely much needed series of lectures and workshops on “Prevention of illicit substance abuse within the Army”, were held with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks at Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna, 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions headquarters premises from 21st June to 24th June in 2022.
Major General K P S A Fernado RWP RSP ndu assumed duties as the 29th General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division on 20 June 2022 in a brief ceremony.
The Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna proudly celebrated its 26th Anniversary on 19 June 2022 marking yet another milestone. In celebration of the Anniversary, a series of programmes were organized with the participation and the directions of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu.
