Indian Peace Keeping Force War Heroes Commemorated in Jaffna

Fallen War Heroes of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) during the 'Operation Pawan' and other operations against LTTE terrorists during the period from 1987 to 1990 in Sri Lanka were commemorated and their sacrifices were remembered at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Monument in Palaly on 15 August 2022 to coincide with the 75th Independence Day of India.

Legendary War Hero, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and other War Heroes Remembered

The 30th death anniversary of Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and several other military War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country took place on Monday, 08 August 2022 and the ceremony was conducted under the supervision of 51 Infantry Division and amidst military honours at the monument in Araly and Major General KPSA Fernando RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division participated as the Chief Guest and Many senior officers were participated including Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Commodore KKIU Kasiwaththa RSP the Deputy Area Commander of Northern Province, Wing Commander BP Widanapathirana psc the Second in Commander of Air Force Base - Palaly.

Officer Cadets of Sri Lanka Military Academy Visit Jaffna

The Officer Cadets Intake 91 of Sri Lanka Military Academy visited the Security Forces (Jaffna) on 27 and 28 July 2022. This visit was as a part of their training curriculum and in line with the Course Study Tour of Officer Cadets. On behalf of the Commander - Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, visiting Officer Cadets were warmly welcomed by the Brigadier General Staff of the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Brigadier Shashika Perera.

New Jaffna Commander Undertakes Formal Visits to Divisions, Brigades & Under Command Units

Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) made his first formal field visits to 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions during 08, 09 and 11 July 2022.

Upon his arrival at the Division Headquarters, the new Commander, Security Forces Jaffna was welcomed and greeted through a drive - pass at the main entrances in keeping with military tradition. During the visits to the Divisions Headquarters, new Commander, Security Forces Jaffna addressed the troops and emphasized the importance of soldier’s sheer commitment, dedication and work hard to achieve the desired goals of the nation. Further, he highlighted the importance of alertness to security, discipline, balance between work and personal life. The troops addresses were followed the planting of saplings as a symbol of memory and he posed for group photographs. Finally, he participated to the all rank tea sessions and had an interaction with the troops.
