Newly Appointed Commander, Security Forces Jaffna Assumes Duties
Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu assumed duties as 28th Commander of Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna on 12th June 2022 during a brief ceremony.
To be an effective instrument to the Government Endeavour to cultivate national harmony in Jaffna Peninsula through uplifting the physical quality of life and spiritual value of the people.
Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu assumed duties as 28th Commander of Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna on 12th June 2022 during a brief ceremony.
Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, who held the office of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) for over a 6 months, relinquished the appointment on 12 June to assume duties as Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
Out going Commander of Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu and on behalf of his rendered greatest services to peninsula was commended by the Jaffna Youth on 12th June 2022.
Under the guidance & advice of the General Officer Commanding - 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunarathne RSP ndu psc IG, a badminton training program was conducted on 11 June 2022 at the 55 division gymnasium to popularize the game of badminton among the youth of Jaffna.
Brigadier ACA De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc assumed office as Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North) on Tuesday, 09 June 2022. He placed his signature in the first official document to mark assuming duties, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith in the presence of Staff Officers.
The annual foot march (Padha Yathra) by Hindu devotees to Kataragama, which commenced on 04 June 2022 from Thondamanaru - Sri Selva Sannadi Murugan Kovil was treated with a refreshment by the 52 Infantry Divisional troops in front of the Divisional Headquarters while they were on their way to Katharagama on 06 June 2022 on the direction of the General Officer Commanding. The foot march is scheduled to be terminated at Kataragama sacred area after completion of 56 days.
Troops of 7th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment took steps to organized a medical clinic and distribution of essentials worth of Rs 15,000.00 among well-deserving 25 pregnant women in general area of Chavakachcheri on 06 June 2022 in order to enhance the goodwill of the Army and the Tamil community. Further, essential items which are necessary for infants also included in this donation. Generous sponsorship for this event was extended by Major IKGSN Bandara RWP RSP USP, Commanding officer and all troops of 7th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. This programme was initiated on the guidance and close supervision of Major General Udaya Herath RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc, General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division and Colonel Subash Siriwardahna RWP RSP USP, Commander 523 Infantry Brigade.
On the direction and guidance of Major General SujeewaSenarathYapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), few programmes to revive ecosystem have been implemented coinciding the World Environmental Day in the Jaffna peninsula on 05 June 2022.
The much anticipated and requested S. Nagarathnam memorial championship trophy eleven-a-side softball cricket match organized by Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) was held under the guidance and supervision of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) at Thyiddy Star Sports Ground on 04 June 2022. The cricket match which was initiated by Security Forces Commander with the hope of building camaraderie amongst youth living in Jaffna and see the active participation of them in sports.
Troops of 52 Infantry Division arranged a felicitation ceremony for their newly - promoted General Officer Commanding, Major General Udaya Herath RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc on 24 May 2022 upon his return to the Division Headquarters.
