With the intention of enhancing educational needs of children of Jaffna Schools , 51 Infantry Division organized a ceremony to donate shoe pairs for 200 school children from Kopay, Selvapuram, Yogapuram and Thellipaly areas in Jaffna District on 30 April 2022 with the financial assistance extended by Aluthgama Dammajothi Thero who residing in Newyork.
The security Forces Headquarters Jaffna, under the guidance of its Commander, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu conducted its first ever Logistics Symposium on 26th and 27th April 2022. It was titled "Paradigm Shift in Military Logistics in Jaffna Peninsula". This is the first time a logistics symposium was organised in this magnitude in the peninsula. All Colonel AQ's, Major AQ's, battalion 2nd in Commands, Quarter Masters and Regimental Quartermasters in the peninsula took part in the symposium.
Under the visionary leadership of Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, many initiatives have been taken by Sri Lanka Army; Army with a warm heart in the Jaffna Peninsula. Among these initiatives, construction of new houses for low income families is key activity which also promotes reconciliation. Acting on guidance and instructions of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu and General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Troops of 551 Infantry Brigade have undertaken to construct a new house for Mrs. Thangarasa Dharmarani and Mr. Kumarakulasingam Prashanthan who were former combatants and suffered injuries during combat.
Brigadier Chinthaka Wikramasinghe USP USACGSC, Commander 551 Infantry Brigade laid the foundation Stone for the new house at Puloly, Point Pedro on 27 April 2022 in the presence of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Point Pedro, HQI of Point Pedro Police , OIC of Naval Detachment Point Pedro, other invitees and family members.
As the concept of Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, 3rd Basic English language course for troops in Jaffna peninsula was commenced on 27 April 2022 and it will be terminated on 27 May 2022.
Maj Gen Sujeewa Senerath Yapa RWP RSP ndu the Commander Security Forces Jaffna grace the occasion as the chief guest in the inaugural opening of Children’s Park and the Reading arena at 55 Infantry Division at KADDEIKADU constructed under the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Div Brig Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG. With the sheer commitment and the untiring effort taken by the troops of 55 Infantry Division, the project that was initiated accordingly could complete within a short span of time with a very high standard.
A donation of school accessories and dry ration items were distributed among 44 children and their families in the 52 Infantry Division area on 08 April 2022 at the Puttur Madihe Pannasiha Vidyalaya under the patronage of the General Officer Commanding - 52 Infantry Division, Brigadier H M U Hearth RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc.
Troops of the Security Forces - Jaffna once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to another rehabilitated Ex-LTTE member in Mailiddy Jaffna after their plight was brought to the notice of General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Chief of the Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
Four hundred and twelve recruits who trained at the Battalion Training School in Wasavillan, Jaffna passed out during a simple ceremony, after successful completion of their four - month basic training on Saturday 09 April 2022.
552 Infantry Brigade troops of 55 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna coordinated and organized the distribution total Rs 604,665.00 worth school accessories, dry ration packs and 150 coconut saplings to 115 school children and 50 needy families in Vembodukerny Grama Niladari Division at Vembodukerny CCTM School premises on 08 April 2022.
2nd Basic English Language Course in 2022 to improve English Language Skills of Soldiers serving in the Jaffna Peninsula was conducted by Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna from 08th March 2022 to 07th April 2022. Thirty Two soldiers from various regiments benefitted from this course, which covered different aspects of the language and its application. The 1st in order of merit was secured by Corporal Munasinghe JPPD, while Private Lakmal MGVS and Private Ananda RMLP secured the 2nd and 3rd places of the Course respectively.
