Ex-LTTE Combatant Gets a New House

Troops of the Security Forces - Jaffna once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to another rehabilitated Ex-LTTE member in Mailiddy Jaffna after their plight was brought to the notice of General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Chief of the Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.

This project was initiated by CDS and Commander of the Army while his official visit to Jaffna peninsula on 03 November 2021. Commander together with Commander Security Forces Jaffna laid the foundation stones for this house to Mr. Rasawallan Thaboruban, who has been rehabilitated and reintegrated to the society under a special presidential pardon on 24 June 2021.

CDS and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Mphil, Chief of the Defence Staff and Commander of the Army joined the new house warming ceremony to Mr. Rasawallan Thaboruban via zoom technology and expressed his well wishes and brighter future to the newly social intergraded Ex-LTTE member. Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu graced the ceremony of house warming and handed over the keys of the newly built house on Monday, 11 April 2022.

Financial Contribution for this newly constructed house was provided by the philanthropist Mr. Vish Nadaraja with coordination and direction of the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Brigadier MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG. The Troops of 10th Battalion of Sri Lanka Artillery provided the much - required manpower for the construction work under the supervision of Commander 515 Infantry Brigade.

Senior Officers, Government Officials, beneficiaries and their family members, troops of the Security Forces Jaffna were also present.

This is another project Completed by the Army to enhance Social integration and expedite the national reconciliation efforts.
