With the conceptual directions given by the General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division Maj Gen Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, an English Language Skill Development Programme has been commenced for grade 6 to 9 students in Kevil and Kaddeikadu villages on 16 July 2022 at the HQ 55 Infantry Division.
The main objective of this programme is to enhance the English proficiency of the children in the AOR and to develop the coexistence between civilians and the Army. The inauguration ceremony of the programme took place with the presence of more than 20 children. Further this teaching project can be also identified as a part of reconciliation process to maintain the peace in Northern area.
English classes will be conducted by the English Instructor of SFHQ (J) Capt Suneth Rathnayake on every Saturday from 0900 Hrs to 1100 Hrs at the 55 Infantry Division.
