Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc relinquished duties as Commander Engineer Division after completion of eight month in the office, highest standard of farewell formalities given him by the division including Guard turnout, colorful farewell parade for outgoing Commander. Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc addressed the division troops at Convention Hall at home of Sappers. During his address, he appreciated the contribution given by all ranks in his tenure. Further, he elaborated his concept of operational readiness of the men and equipment and measures taken to ensure it through training, awareness programs, workshops and zoom lectures. Also mentioned effort taken to uplifts the CBRNe preparedness by graduating 45 x 225 troops men and women in his short spell of tenure to enhance capability and capacity at Security Headquarter level identifying the global and regional CBRNe security landscape, although we are at lack of facilities in field of detection equipment in the subject matter, emphasized importance of skill development of troops to carryout related tasks.

The Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division took initiatives to launch CBRNe Courses in month of November, 2022. This initiative stipulated through the guidance of the Commander, Engineer Division Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc within the framework of ensuring National Security for Sri Lanka and in-line with intention of the Commander of the Army Lt Gen Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu. Course Participants were selected from each Engineer unit located at respective Security Force Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army.
