FORGING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE WITH THE 'CLEAN SRI LANKA INITIATIVE': MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc ADDRESSES THE TROOPS AT REGIMENTAL CENTRE AND HOME OF SAPPERS, MATTEGODA

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, delivered an inspiring address to troops at the SLE Regimental Centre - Panagoda and the Home of Sappers - Mattegoda on Tuesday, 07th January 2025. Addressing to Officers, Other Ranks and Civilian Staff, he emphasized the Corps’ pivotal role in national and military excellence, setting a motivating tone for the year ahead.

At the Regimental Centre and Home of Sappers - Mattegoda, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed a total of 75 Officers and 800 Other Ranks from the Regimental Centre, Engineer Division, 1 Field Engineer Regiment, 5 Field Engineer Regiment, 14 CBRNE Regiment SLE, 16 Workshop Regiment SLE, and 4(V) Engineer Regiment. Across both addresses, he stressed the values of discipline, integrity, and professionalism, vital for safeguarding the nation's stability.

A central theme of his address was the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, a transformative concept focused on integration in the vision of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commander of the Army, declared by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayaka. This initiative aims to foster a sustainable future through positive attitudes, ethical practices, and committed service. He urged troops to embrace innovation, collaboration, and responsibility to position Sri Lanka as a model of environmental and ethical progress.

He also aligned the Corps' efforts with the Army Commander’s broader goals for professional growth and technological advancement. By engaging in continuous learning and adapting to modern challenges, he encouraged the troops to uphold the Corps’ tradition of excellence while remaining at the forefront of national development and security.

Concluding his address, Major General Lanka Amarapala extended warm New Year wishes for 2025, envisioning a year of unity, progress, and success for the Corps and their families. His words served as a powerful call to action, inspiring members of the Corps to rise to the challenges of the year ahead with renewed dedication and purpose.
