76TH ARMY DAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE SRI LANKA MILITARY ACADEMY

The Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, proudly commemorated the 76th Army Day on 10th October 2025 with a dignified and patriotic ceremony held at the Academy premises. The event was organized to honour the proud legacy, achievements, and enduring spirit of the Sri Lanka Army since its establishment in 1949.

The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the Army Flag by the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing, Colonel KS Maddumage RSP USP USACGSC Isc symbolizing the pride and unity of the institution. This was followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in remembrance of all fallen war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation.

The Army Commander's message, delivered by the General Staff Officer 2, inspired all ranks to uphold the noble values, discipline, and traditions of the Sri Lanka Army while remaining steadfast in their commitment to the nation's progress and security.

To mark the significance of the occasion and promote environmental consciousness, five trees were planted by the Commanding Officer of the OCW, the Senior Most Warrant Officer, the Senior Most Male and Female Officer Cadets, and a representative Civil Employee, symbolizing the collective dedication of all ranks towards a greener and more sustainable future.

The event concluded with a sense of pride and reflection, as the Academy reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the Sri Lanka Army and the nation it serves.
