Her Excellency Julie Chung, the United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) on 19 September 2025. Ambassador Chung was warmly received by the Commandant of SLMA, Major General M J R S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG.
During the visit, the Ambassador toured several key facilities of the Academy: the gymnasium, the library, and the Sino–Lanka Friendship Auditorium. A tea party was hosted at the Officer Cadets’ Mess in her honour, offering an opportunity for Ambassador to interact with officer cadets and faculty.
To mark the occasion, the Commandant presented Ambassador Chung with a memento. In turn, she made a generous donation of two valuable books to the SLMA library, supporting the academic enrichment of future military leaders.
The visit underscored the cordial relations between the United States and Sri Lanka and reflected their shared commitment to cooperation in education, training and professional development.
