KDU TRAINEES VISIT SLMA FOR AN EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGE

A delegation from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), comprising 189 officer cadets of Intake 41 and 30 directing staff, visited the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) as part of their training curriculum on 29 March 2025.

The visiting contingent was warmly received at the Academy’s main entrance, marking the beginning of an insightful and enriching experience. Following their arrival, they were given an orientation briefing on the significance of the SLMA Parade Ground, the Academy’s vision, and the War Memorial. In a solemn moment of respect, the KDU team paid tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the memorial.

The visit continued with a screening of the SLMA documentary at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium, offering a comprehensive overview of the institution’s legacy and training methodologies. The visitors then toured several key locations within the Academy, including the Academy Museum, Equestrian Section, Polo Ground, Swimming Pool, Officer Cadets’ Mess, Library, and Gymnasium.

A highlight of the visit was a friendly basketball match between the SLMA and KDU teams, showcasing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship between the two institutions. Additionally, an interactive session was arranged during lunch at the Officer Cadets’ Mess, where trainees from both establishments had the opportunity to engage in discussions, exchange experiences, and strengthen inter-institutional bonds.
