On 12 February 2025, the Lions Club of Bandarawela presented a consignment of medicine to the SLMA Happy Home to support the surgical procedures for female dogs. The center currently houses over 50 dogs, the majority of which are female, making these operations urgently necessary to prevent further breeding.
The Lions Club President, Secretary, and several Life Members participated in the event. Representing the SLMA, the newly appointed Commandant, Major General M J R S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG, along with the Head of the Department of Languages, the Adjutant of the SLMA, and the Veterinary Surgeon, also took part in the occasion. The Commandant appreciated their gesture in support of animal welfare and maintaining a cleaner Sri Lanka.
Following the event, they visited the Happy Home to see the facility firsthand. The Lions Club has pledged to continue supporting this initiative in the future.
