The Lecture on “Effective handling of NCOs”

The role of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) is pivotal within any military organization. As members who serve on the front lines, they carry the weight of responsibility for the discipline, morale, and overall effectiveness of their units.

Hence, with the purpose of educating the Officers on how to manage, motivate, and empower NCOs, an insightful lecture on the topic “Effective handling of NCOs” was conducted on 30 November 2024, at the Sino-Lanka Friendship Auditorium by Maj Gen (Rtd) K H K Kottawaththa RWP RSP USP VSV MPhil, a veteran and an expertise who was a former Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Military Academy.

The necessity of building strong relationships, fostering respect, and creating an environment where Non Commissioned Officers can excel as leaders and the significance of communication and mutual trust between the Officers and NCOs, were further elaborated during the lecture.

The lecture was conducted for all trainee officer cadets and officers under the direction of the present Commandant, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc. Upon admiring his valuable time and dedication, the guest speaker Maj Gen (Rtd) K H K Kottawaththa RWP RSP USP VSV MPhil was presented with a token of appreciation at the end of the session.
