CADET GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT AWARDING CEREMONY – 2ND HALF OF 2024

The Cadet Government plays a crucial role in fostering leadership, discipline, and responsibility among Officer Cadets at Sri Lanka Military Academy. Being the main intermediary between the cadet body and the Academy's command structure, the cadet government ensures the smooth communication and efficient management of cadet-related activities. Therefore, the Cadet Government Appointment Awarding Ceremony marks an important milestone in the officer cadets' journey, underscoring the commitment of the institution to foster leadership and excellence in military training.

The Cadet Government Appointment awarding ceremony for the second half of 2024 was held on 27 November 2024. Officer Cadets from Intake 93 B, SC 21 SC 22 and 93 were endorsed with new leadership roles. A total of 133 appointments were awarded during the ceremony, including:


1 Cadet Battalion Under Officers

3 Cadet Company Under Officers

1 Cadet Battalion Adjutant

1 Cadet Battalion Sergeant Majors

1 Cadet Battalion Quartermaster Sergeants Majors

4 Cadet Company Sergeant Majors

5 Cadet Quartermaster Sergeants Majors

10 Cadet Sergeants

41 Cadet Corporals

66 Cadet Lance Corporals

Moreover, Company Under Officer DRK Jayakody from intake 93 B was promoted and awarded with the appointment, Battalion Under Officer while Platoon Under Officer KN Abewickrama, Cadet Company Sergeant Major P Sanji and Cadet Quartermaster Sergeant Major LAWMMD Athapaththu from the same intake were promoted as Cadet Battalion Adjutant, Battalion Sergeant Major and Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant respectively after considering their performances and leadership skills.

The Commandant of Sri Lanka Military Academy, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Deputy Commandant, Wing Heads, Company Commanders, Course Officers and other officers also participated in this occasion. Finally, the Chief Guest congratulated the newly appointed cadet government by ehspecially emphasizing the importance of their roles in upholding discipline, responsibility, and leadership within their respective groups.
