The Sri Lanka Military Academy conducts the Drill Instructor Course to train and produce skillful Drill Instructors to the SL Army, standing on the meaning of the term 'DRILL'; Discipline, Respect, Integrity, Learning, and Leadership.
On 18 November 2024, the 132nd Drill Instructor Course reached its climax with a Ceremonial Fall Out Ceremony which was graced by the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest. On this occasion, the outstanding achievements of 67 SNCOs were highly appreciated by adorning the DI Badges on successful completion of the course by the Chief Guest together with the Commanding Officer- Administration Wing, and the Chief Instructor-Military Training Wing. At this special moment, the outstanding achievements of the Drill Instructor Course students were too credited with the award of special prizes; the Army Commander’s Challenging Pace Stick Prize awarded for the First in Order of Merit, the Prize awarded for the First in Theoretical Knowledge and Skills, and the Prize of the Best Personal Drill and Practical Knowledge which were claimed by Sergeant Disanayaka DMGM of 1 SLAC. By addressing the parade, the Chief Guest emphasized the important role of drill to produce disciplined soldiers and develop their personality, leadership skills. Further, all DIs were advised to carry forth long-standing military traditions and practices in the Army. Coinciding with the Fall Out Ceremony, all the DIS were also awarded with Certificates during the Chief Instructor’s Parade on 16 November 2024.
Finally, the Fall Out Ceremony concluded with a special banquet arranged at Warrant Officers’& Sergeants’ Mess on 18th evening with the participation of the Commandant, all Wing Heads, Senior Officers, Officers in celebration of their remarkable achievement.
