  • Jaffna Troops Undertake Disinfection of State and Private Institutions

    On the directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, troops under 52 Division of Security Forces - Jaffna under took disinfection of State Institutes, Welfare Centres, State and Private Banks, Railway Station, Rural Hospital, Bus Stands, etc established in Valvettithurai, Kodikamam and Kaithady areas in order to prevent spreading of COVID - 19 virus, on Tuesday 21 April 2020.

  • Gurunagar Civil Community Relieved by Jaffna Troops

    Amidst the fight against spread of COVID - 19 pandemic, troops under 6 Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps extended humane support to relieve the people residing in Gurunagar fishing village by distributing dry ration packs among needy families. The programme was conducted on Saturday 18 April 2020 on the directives of, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya.

  • Security Forces - Jaffna Assists Bohra Community to Distribute Food Items to Needy People

    The Sri Lanka Army, on Saturday 18 April 2020, assisted the Bohra Community in Sri Lanka to distribute essential food items to hundreds of families in the North amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The Bohra Community distributed the food items, on behalf of global Community Leader, His Holiness, Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who has launched a worldwide humanitarian initiative to provide food to thousands of families in COVID-19 hit countries.

    The Community was assisted by the Sri Lanka Army in the North, by identifying the families in need, transporting and distributing the items in an organized manner.

    The Bohra Community thanked the Sri Lanka Army in assisting them in their distribution drive. "We are grateful to the Army for helping us in this initiative. At times of crisis, it is our duty as citizens of this nation to help our fellow citizens. The Army has always assisted civilians in times of need and we concluded the distribution drive successfully due to their support," Mufaddal Adamjee, local Permanent Resident (PR) coordinator of the Bohra Community said.

  • Jaffna Troops Continue Providing Relief to Needy People

    Amidst the nationwide lockdown against the spread of COVID - 19, troops under Security Forces - Jaffna continue their assistance to government authorities and provide relief to needy civil community in Jaffna Peninsula. On the directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna troops under 515 Brigade of 51 Division extended Support to GramaNiladhari to distribute dry ration packs among Samurdhi beneficiaries residing in Tellippalai area. Further, troops under 512 Brigade organized a programme to distribute prepared meal packets to deserving people in Velani area on Saturday 18 April 2020.

  • Jaffna Troops Provide Assistance to Pay Government Allowances for Deserving People

    Troops under Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna extended their assistance to Government Agent and Divisional Secretariats in Jaffna to pay the Government allowances of Samurdhi Assistance allowance, Kidney beneficiaries, Disabled beneficiaries, Elder beneficiaries and Covid - 19 pandemic affected allowance worth of Rs 5000.00 for nearly the hundred and fifty thousand deserving families in Jaffna peninsula. Troops assisted government officials to pay allowances at the doorsteps of deserving families.

  • Jaffna Troops Assist People in Jaffna

    Upon the directives of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, troops under Security Forces - Jaffna extended their assistance to provide basic needs of civil community in Jaffna peninsula during the ongoing curfew period. Accordingly, troops assist the civilians to have access to banks and get pharmaceuticals in coordination with Government Agent, Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladharis in Jaffna peninsula. Further, Army facilitated the public by providing transport in liaison with Sri Lanka Transport Board depots on 09th and 10th of April 2020.

  • Jaffna Troops Assist Senior Citizens To Draw Their Pension

    As part of government effort to assist pensioners to receive their monthly pension payment Security Forces Jaffna provided transport facility for the senior citizens in Jaffna peninsula who are retired after serving the country. Arrangements were made for them to go on 2nd and 3rd April 2020 from their homes to respective banks. This facility will also be provided on an extra day, on 06thApril 2020 for those who could not obtain pension payment so far.

    The Sri Lanka Transport Board provided 70 buses for this endeavor.

  • The Semi Finals of Jaffna Got Talent Ends with a High Note

    The Semi Finals of Jaffna Got Talent 2020 Singing and Dancing competition was held on Tuesday, 10 March 2020 at the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) with the patronage of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna. At the Semi Finals 20 competitors (10 each in Singing and Dancing) staged their talents before the expertise Judge Panel and a large audience, and out of them 05 competitors each for Singing and Dancing were selected to compete at the Grand Finale.

    Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, General Officers Commanding 51, 52 and 55 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Troops and a gathering of parents and well wishers were present at the Semi Finals. Certificates of participation and appreciation were awarded to the 10 semifinalists who were not selected for the finals.

  • St. Anthony’s Feast at Kachchativu Strengthens the Relations between Sri Lanka and India

    The annual Kachchative feast which is traditionally held in Kachchativu islet, is attended by a large number of Sri Lankan as well as Indian devotees with a great sense of spiritual attachment to St. Anthony’s Church. The feast mass was conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages. The Bishop - Diocese of Galle, Rt. Rev. Raymond Wickramasinghe, Vicar General of Sivagangai Diocese - India, Rev. Joseph Lourdu Raja were in attendance and the Bishop of Jaffna Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam led the mass amidst a large gathering of devotees and military personnel of Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy on Saturday, 07 March 2020. Sri Lanka Navy facilitated the entire proceeding with the assistance of Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Police.
