Manpower and technical expertise of the Army and the patronage of a philanthropical donor enabled the 551 Infantry Brigade troops to build a new house for a well-deserved family in the area of Thunnalai (S), Karaveddy and vested it with the beneficiaries in the presence of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding - 55 Infantry Division on 16 December 2022.

The 55 Infantry Division's 26thAnniversary commemoration has already started with a blood donation programme by the division's troops. This noble occasion was organized under the guidance of General Officer Commanding Major General Prasanna Gunaratne re-assuring the highest number of blood donors from the troops to the blood bank, Teaching Hospital Jaffna. Moreover, this is an effort to invoke blessings for the men under his command and for those who gave their lives over the division's 26-years history.

Continuing with its Community Assistance Projects under the guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding - 55 Infantry Division, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade laid the foundation stone to erect yet another new house for a underprivileged family in the Thunnalai South, Karaveddy on 10 December 2022. Financial assistance provided by overseas based Ms. Thabitha Chinnaiah in memory of Joy Arulrajah, Son of Rev. Ms Chinniah.

The Kavudumunna Raja Maha Viharaya, Dambadeniya along with Bosath Foundation of Bujjomuwa Railway Station organized a Pirith Chanting Train Journey ‘New Year of Prosperity’ from Beliatta to Kankesanthurai on 11 and 12 December 2022 in order to promote peace and reconciliation among communities. The train with Pirth Chanting accompanied 17 Buddhist dignitaries led by Ven. Ginnaliye Ayupala Thero and 400 devotees from all parts of the Island, and they were received by the Troops of Security Forces (Jaffna) at the Kankesanthurai Railway Station at 09.00 pm on 11 December 2022.

Total 8 teams took part in the tournament and preliminary & semifinals played 3rd week of November.
