  • A New House for a Deserving Family

    Troops under Security Forces (Jaffna) extended their support to build a shelter for Mrs. Nanthini Ratheeswarn at Manippay with the help of financial donations made by Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues. The new house was handed over to the deserving family by Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 06 August 2020 with essential home appliances.

  • Foreign Employees Returning from Jordan Leave Jaffna to go Home After Quarantine

    A total of 166 Foreign Employees from Jordan who were in quarantine left Jaffna for their homes after completion of two - week long quarantine process at Iyakachchi Quarantine Centre in Jaffna, on 31 July 2020. Prior to release they underwent the medical procedures and received quarantine certificates.

  • Fully Fledged Harmony Centre In Jaffna

    In view of promoting peace, reconciliation and wellbeing of the community in Jaffna peninsula, Army troops have launched a number of projects assisting the people uplifting their living standards and espousing social wellbeing. Initiating another chapter of Civil Military Cooperation, a “Harmony Centre” was declared open in Siththankeny on 25 July 2020. This Civil-military Coordinating centre was set up by Army troops on the conceptual direction of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya Commander Security Forces – Jaffna.

  • New Hopes With a New Shelter For an Ex LTTE Female Combatant

    Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues, Well-wishers from South, brought new rays of hope to Mrs. Sivarajan Nandani in Wallipuram promising her a new Shelter. Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) laid the foundation Stone for the new house on 20 July 2020 which will be constructed with the financial donation of the well wishers. The beneficiary is an Ex-LTTE woman who was serving in Malathi Brigade form year 2002 to 2008.

    The troops belong to 16 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the guidance and supervision of 551 Brigade and 55 Division will provide required manpower for the construction work. General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Commander 551 Brigade, Senior Officers, Troops and well wishers were present to witness the brief ceremony.

  • Foundation Stone Laid For a New Shelter

    Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues, who had contributed for many welfare projects in Jaffna Peninsula, agreed to extend financial donations to construct a new shelter for Mrs. Kenistiya Sudakar at Alwai, Jaffna. According the foundation stone laying ceremony for the house construction was held on 20 July 2020 with the presence of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).

    Troops belong to 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the supervision of 551 Brigade and 55 Division will commence the construction work. General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Commander 551 Brigade, Senior Officers, Troops and Well wishers and were present to waitress the brief Ceremony.

    Troops under Security Forces (Jaffna) extended their support to build a shelter for Mrs. Ganeshamurthi Nilajini at Karaweddy along with the financial donations made by Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues. The new house was handed over to the deserving family by Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 20 July 2020 with essential home appliances.

    The much needed manpower for the construction work was provided by the troops of 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under 551 Brigade with the Supervision of 55 Division.

    General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Commander 551 Brigade, Senior Officers, Divisional Secretary – Karaweddy, Troops and well wishers were witnessed the handing over ceremony.

  • Foundation Stone Laid For a New Shelter

    Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) took part in a ceremony on 19 July 2020 to lay the foundation stone of a new house which will be constructed by Army troops for a deserving family in Kodikamam. Troops of 7 Gajaba Regiment under Command to 522 Brigade with the directions of 52 Division will provide required manpower for the construction work along with the financial contribution by Mr. Kamar Weerasooriya and his colleagues. Mrs. Manjula Gnaneshwaran at Kodikamam (South) will have a new Shelter for her family within few weeks.

    General Officer Commanding 52 Division, Divisional Secretary - Chavakachcheri, Brigade Commanders under 52 Division, Senior Officers, Government Officials, Troops and Well wishers were present to witness the brief Ceremony.

    Troops under Security Forces (Jaffna) extended their support to build a shelter for Mrs. K. Sahida of Uduvil (South), Chunnakam along with the financial donations made by Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his Colleagues. The new house was handed over to the deserving family by Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 19 July 2020 with essential home appliances.

    The much needed manpower for the Construction work was provided by the troops of 9 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 511 Brigade under the Supervision of 51 Division.

    Brigade Commanders under 51 Division, Senior Officers, Troops and Well wishers were witnessed the handing over Ceremony.

  • Army Commander Meets Ex-Servicemen in Jaffna

    Ex-servicemen in Jaffna peninsula who rendered a yeoman service to the Ceylon Army met the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID – 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc during his visit to Security Forces (Jaffna) on 18 July 2020. Mr. Kandaiya Kanapathi Pulle, Mr. S. Arulambalam, Mr. Siwalonadan Ahambaram, Mr. Muttia Muturasa and Mr. Sinna Tambi Nadaeasa had a cordial meeting with the Army Chief and discussed on past service life in Ceylon Army and welfare facilities. Further they shared their views on the commendable service of the Sri Lanka Army on maintaining the peace and during the Covid 19 pandemic while acknowledging the decisive role of the Army Commander. After the discussion the Commander of the Army offered gifts of appreciation for the Ex-servicemen and Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya Commander Security Forces Jaffna also associated the Army Commander.

  • Army Leads People to Say No to Polythene and Plastic in Jaffna

    Apart from the tireless efforts against COVID – 19 pandemic, troops under Security Forces Jaffna made initiatives to preserve Jaffna town as a polythene and plastic free city. On the conceptual directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Lalith Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding 51 Division guided under command troops to clean up Jaffna town and vicinity collecting polythene, plastic and waste materials on 12 July 2020 in order to prevent environment pollution.

    Sri Lanka police, Special Task Force and Disaster Management Centre in Jaffna supported the troops to launch this initiative to make polythene and plastic free environment in Jaffna town. Mr. Vamadeva Thiagendran, Founder and Chairman of Thiyahie Charitable Trust Fund also participated this environmental programme.
