Commander Security Force (Jaffna) and District Coordinator - Covid -19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu together with Government Agent Jaffna, Mr. K Maheshan presided an official meeting with the health sector officials and authorities of Jaffna University on Wednesday, 03 February 2021 at the Government Agent’s Office Jaffna.
In light of recent Covid - 19 detection in Jaffna University, the discussion mainly focused on Covid - 19 prevention and control measures to be initiated in Jaffna peninsula. During the discussion few important decisions were taken with special reference to control spreading of Covid - 19 among university students and civil community.
Security Force Commander emphasized the significance of distance learning and proposed university authorities to implement online education and e-library system for the benefit of university students.

On the conceptual directions of the Commander Security Force – Jaffna, troops of 523 Infantry Brigade under 52 Infantry Division coordinated a donation of nutrients and dry ration packs to pregnant women in Jaffna peninsula, with the financial sponsorship extended by Mrs. Suranjani Wickremeratne, the President of ‘Colombo Tarana Foundation’.
Commander Security Force – Jaffna Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu made his presence as Chief Guest during the donation programme held at Poomari Hall, Chavakachcheri on Thursday, 28 January 2021, in which a number of 75 pregnant women from low-income families were benefitted. The pregnant women came from remote areas in Jaffna peninsula received nutrients and ration packs worth of Rs. 2750.00 each, along with a Covid 19 preventive pack (Sanitizers, face masks, etc.).

A number of 200 foreign employees returned from Qatar, Set off to their villages after completing two - week quarantine process at Vidaththapalei quarantine Centre in Jaffna, on 23 January 2021. They underwent medical procedures and received quarantine certificates before leaving Jaffna.
The groups segregated according to areas of their residential locations, provided with Army transport facilities up to their destinations in Kaluthara, Ampara, Badulla, Mannar and Hambanthota areas along with meals, snacks, water etc. Police provided assistance to escort the convoy of 18 vehicles.
The quarantine process was conducted by the troops of Security Force (Jaffna) under the supervision of Major General WLPW Perera RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) with the guidance of the National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) headed by General LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Head of the NOCPCO, Chief of the Defence Staff and Commander of the Army. Senior Officers and Troops witnessed the departure formalities.

Major General Priyantha Perera who assumed duties as the 25th Commander, Security Force - Jaffna paid homage to Sri Nagavihara Temple and Nallur Kovil in Jaffna on Wednesday, 20 January 2021.
He made a courtesy calls on the Chief Incumbent of Sri Nagavihara Temple, Ven. Meegahajandure Sri Vimaladeva Thero and the Chief Priest of Nallur Kovil, Maikundal Swami Kurukkal respectively. Then he met Bishop of Jaffna Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin B Gnanapragasam and received blessings.
Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Jaffna and Commander 512 Brigade accompanied the Security Force Commander.

Initiating another step of reconciliation process in Jaffna peninsula, the troops under Security Force (Jaffna) extended their support to build a shelter for Mrs. Desi Indra Rathish at Uduwil along with the financial donations made by Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya and his colleagues. Major General Senarath Bandara, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) on 14 January 2021, handed over the new house with essential home appliances to the deserving family. The donation was considered as a precious gift for the deserving family presented by Security Force (Jaffna) during the Thai Pongal festive season.

Security Forces (Jaffna) extended another phase of social welfare projects, to preserve water resource for the benefit of framers and citizens in Vaddukoddai area. On the request brought forward by Dr. Sidambaran Mohan the President of 'Friends of Jaffna' organization and the Farmers' Society of Vadukkoddai – Southwest with the coordination of Mr. E Nishanth the Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture Development Board, Mrs Premani Ponnambalam Divisional Secretary of Walikamam West and Mr. K Maheshan Government Agent Jaffna, Major General Senarath Bandara Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) directed under command troops to renovate the unattended ‘Uppuvayal Kulam’ tank in Vaddukkodai for the public use. The most important manpower for the renovation project was provided by troops belong to 10 Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Engineers and 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the supervision of Brigadier Mohamed Fariz Commander 513 Brigade and Major General Sumith Premalal General Officer Commanding 51 Division.
The perfectly renovated ‘Uppuvayal Kulam’ tank in Vaddukkodai was inaugurated by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva during a grand ceremony held on 17 December 2020 following the best practices of social distancing. On the occasion, the farmers beseeched the blessings of deities by mixing holy water brought from the Kashi Ganga Nadi (River Ganges in Varanasi) in India into the new waters.

The 06th birthday of Mohamed Hamid on 12 December 2020 was celebrated privately without any gathering at the Vidaththapalai quarantine centre where only parents participated adapting social distancing best practices. The humanitarrian gesture was facilitated by troops of 52 Division under Security Forces (Jaffna).

Troops of 4th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the 523 Brigade organized a programme to distribute dry rations among the low income families of Kovilakkandi in Jaffna on 28 November 2020, those were affected due to the recent flood situation and ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. The programme was conducted under the patronage of Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Officer Commanding 52 Division.
Commander 523 Brigade Colonel Rohan Rajapaksha, Commanding officer of the 4th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major Shelton Gallage, Officers and Other Ranks were present in the occasion.
