  • Foreign Employees Proceeding Home After Government Quarantine Process

    A number of 114 foreign employees flew from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Dubai, and Lebanon set off to their homes after completing more than two - week quarantine process at Vasavilan Quarantine Centre in Jaffna, on Wednesday, 07 July 2021. Having gone through the required quarantine procedures, they were awarded with quarantine certificates by Brigadier Wandhitha Mahinkanda, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North). Soon after the awarding of certificates personnel who underwent the quarantine process appreciated the commitment and dedication of the army troops at Vasavillan Quarantine Centre.

  • Jaffna Troops Involve with Vaccination Programme Amidst the Strike of Health Workers

    Giving a further boost to the ongoing national vaccination project carried out by the Army and sister services across the country, Medical Teams and Troops of 4th Battalion Medical Corps Sri Lanka Army start the vaccination program for the general public of Jaffna District amidst the ongoing strike of health workers in health sector.

  • Troops of the 51 Division Engage in 'Shramadana' Campaigns

    Troops of the 511, 513 and 515 Infantry Brigades under the 51 Infantry Division conducted series of 'Shramadana' Cleaning campaigns to keep the areas to free from dengue mosquitoes at several Churches and Kovil premises in the Jaffna peninsula on 03 July 2021.

    This 'Shramadana' campaign was conducted under instructions and guidance of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division Major General Deepal Pussella and during the campaign, areas were cleaned at St. John's Baptist and St. Antheny's Churches premise in Periyavilan, Arulmilu Alurananadan Pulleyar Kovil premises in Kandarodai, Alakollai Pulleyar Kovil premises in Alaveddi and Shivan Kovil premises in Kareinagar. Further, this programme was closely supervised by Brigadier Jude Fernando - Commander 511 Brigade, Brigadier Mohomed Fariz - Commander 513 Brigade and Brigadier Palitha Godellawaththa - Commander 515 Brigade in their respective Ares.

  • People of Jaffna Get Their Second Dose of Sinopharm Vaccines

    Inoculating of the second dose of Sinopharm vaccines for the general public of Jaffna District was successfully carried out by the Medical Teams and troops of 4th Battalion Medical Corps Sri Lanka Army in close co-operation with Medical Officers and public health inspectors of the respective MOH areas of Jaffna District from 28 June to 03 July 2021.

    This programe was launched at the government-organized vaccination centres at Chankanai, Chavakachcheri, Jaffna, Karaveddy, Kopay, Nallur, Point Pedro, Sandilippay, Tellippalai and Maruthankerny strictly adhering to the stipulated health guidelines. During the vaccine programme, around 38,657 general public of Jaffna were vaccinated.

  • Distribution of Dry Ration Packs for Low Income Families in 52 INF DIV AOR

    52 Infantry Division of Security Forces (Jaffna) distributed Fifty-Five dry ration packets among low-income families living in the area. This was held at the “Sarvodaya Center” – Ariyale on 30 June 2021 on the direction of General Officer Commanding of 52 Inf Div - Maj Gen W H K S Peiris RWP RSP USP ndu and on the guideline given by Maj Gen Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu - Commander Security Forces (Jaffna).

    GOC 52 Inf Div graced as the chief guest, and clergies of all the religions along with the Grama Niladari also witnessed the event. Low-income families having some hardships, specially due this Covid 19 pandemic situation were immensely benefited as the package included with many essential items.

  • 515 Brigade Troops Conduct ‘Sharamadana’ Campaign

    A Shramadana campaign was Conducted by the troops of 515 Infantry Brigade, Jaffna on 26 June 2021 at St. Joshop Christian Church, Alaveddi, St. Anthony Church, Thayddi under the directions of 51 Infantry Division General Officer Commanding, Major General Deepal Pussella RWP RSP and with the supervision of Commander 515 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Palitha Godellawaththa USP psc.

    Troops of the 10th Battalion of Sri Lanka Artillery and 2nd Battalion of Gemunu Watch involved with the 'Shramadana' programme under the strict health guidelines announced by the Army Headquarters.

  • Soldiers help Hospital Staff

    On request made by The Director, Jaffna teaching hospital the troops of 512 Infantry Brigade provides their assistance to medical staff for arranging the newly received 110 ICU Beds to hospital on 26 June 2021.

  • 513 Brigade Troops conduct 'Sharamadana' Campaign

    The troops of the 513 Infantry Brigade of the 51 Infantry Division conducted a series of Shramadana campaign at Muruga Murthi Hindu Kovil premise in Chankanni, Vairavan Kovil and Murugan Kovil premises in Vadaliyadaippu Jaffna on 25 June 2021 on instructions of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division Major General Deepal Pussella RWP RSP and with the supervision of Commander 513 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Mohomad Fariz USP.

Having gone through the required quarantine procedures, they were awarded with quarantine certificates by General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division, Major General Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP ndu. Soon after the awarding of certificates personnel who underwent the quarantine process appreciated the commitment and dedication of the army troops at Vasavillan Quarantine Centre.
