General public awareness programme on COVID -19 pandemic situation in Jaffna peninsula, prevention and precautionary measures of COVID -19 and benefits of inoculating vaccines was conducted by the troops of 51 division on 05 and 06 September 2021. Further, under this programme, people who live in Koopay, Kankasanthurei, Jaffna, Keeramalei were made aware of the importance of preventing covid -19, following the health guidelines including proper wearing of face masks, maintaining of social distance to control the spread of the new delta variant.
This programme was initiated on the direction of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and District Coordinator of COVID-19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu and under close supervision of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, Major Genaral Deepal Pussella.
General public were also educated on the symptoms of the delta variant and causes of spread and how to prevent it.
Accordingly, this public awareness programme will be continued in the future too.
