On the conceptual direction of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Mphil, 1.5 million rupee worth of financial grants were given to presidentially pardoned 15 x Reintegrated Ex- LTTE combatants at the Jetwin North gate Hotel, Jaffna on 7 August 2021.
Distribution of financial aids to reintegrated persons was aimed to facilitate their income generation and to uplift living standards.
Mr Vamadeva Thiagendran, well-known social activist and charity donor in Jaffna sponsored this financial grants on the invitation and coordination of Commander Security Force – Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu.
During the brief ceremony, Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army presented a memento to Mr Vamadeva Thiagendran as a token of appreciation for his noble contribution. Subsequently mementos were exchanged between Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army and Commander Security Force – Jaffna to mark this special event.
General Officers Commanding 51, 52, and 55 Divisions, Government Agent (GA) Jaffna, Divisional Secretary Jaffna, Commander Northern Naval Area, Commander Forward Maintenance Area North, Brigadier General Staff, and Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna were also present during the ceremony.
