A 20 years old youngster who is a resident of Kallady, Batticaloa, Mr. Thawendiran Madushigan swam from Dhanushkody in India to Taleimannar in Sri Lanka on 28 May 2023, and he put a record as the 4th person to reach this position. It took 12 hours and 58 minutes to swim that distance to him. Hence the felicitation ceremony was organized in the 231 Infantry Brigade to felicitate him.

Brigadier A H A D Ariyasena RWP RSP USP psc ptsc assumed duties as the Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters - East at auspicious time after observing religious rituals on 02 July 2023.

With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc and the coordination of Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, and the Commanding Officer of 16th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guards, 250 Dry Ration Packs were distributed among low-income families in Ampara District on 02 July 2023.

With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc and the instructions and coordination of Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, troops of 241 Infantry Brigade was organized a school items and stationery distribution program for 40 Students on 24th June 2023 at Swami Vipulananda Children‘s Home at Akkaraipattu.

The Security Force Headquarters (East) troops adding their share to the Army’s ongoing house construction for underprivileged families in respective areas erected new house for needy family in Kalladi, Mawadichenei area on 21 June 2023 with sponsorship provided by Mr Roshan Rajappa resided in USA, through the coordination of Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva.
The eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera gave guidance for the project and close supervision by the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General Mihidu Perera and Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Saliya Dias for the project.

The General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Major General GMN Perera RWP RSP USP ndc made his first official visits to 221, 222 and 223 Infantry Brigades and under command battalions on 08, 10,11 13 and 14 June 2023 after assuming his new office.

"Esala" festival of Sri "Murugan Kovil - Okanda" and Katharagama pada yathra was commenced from 12 June 2023 to 25 June 2023. Annually devotees go to Katharagama with pada yathra crossing the National Park Kumana to vership God Katharagama. The gate of the Kumana National Park was ceremonially opened to the devotees at 0653 hrs on 12 June 2023 with the attendance of Governor of Eastern Province, District Secretary Ampara, Divisional Secretary Lahugala, Comd 24 Inf Division Maj Gen W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc and Comd 242 Inf Brigade Brig SAUA Solangaarachchi RSP psc and Commanding Officer 23 SLSR.

Under the direction of SFHQ East and the close supervision of Colonel AKCS De Silva RSP Commander 233 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel MIS Chandrakumara USP Psc Commanding Officer and troops of 9 SLA organized a medical clinic and eye clinic for patients who are in over 55 years old in Welikanda area in association with the Mobile medical and Eye Care Unit of Help Age Sri Lanka on 10 June 2023 .
