DONATION OF DRY RATION PACKS TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN AMPARA DISTRICT, BY THE 24 INFANTRY DIVISION

With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc and the coordination of Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, and the Commanding Officer of 16th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guards, 250 Dry Ration Packs were distributed among low-income families in Ampara District on 02 July 2023.

The ration packs, each worth Rs. 5100.00, have been donated by the Buddhist Community in the People’s Republic of China as a gesture of goodwill. Mr. Nishantha Witharana and Mr. Udaya Karunarathna, the main facilitators of the donation programme, arranged the dry ration packs in coordination with the Chinese Buddhist Community. The ration packs were distributed among the needy families in Maha Oya, Bandaraduwa and Gonagolla areas with the blessings of Sri Gnanavijayaloka Viharaya, Sri Gothama Viharaya and Sri Wimalarama Viharaya in Ampara district. The beneficiaries highly appreciated and praised this initiative of the Sri Lanka Army and the goodwill of the Chinese Buddhist Community, as it was a great relief to them at a time of economic hardship.
